TMNT (2003) Season 2, part 2 review at AIPT

My review of TMNT (2003) Season 2, Part 2 is up over at AIPT!

"Secret Origins" is every bit as awesome as I remember it; a great way to finish off that epic ten-episode arc after the underwhelming "Turtles in Space" sequence.  "Modern Love: The Return of Nano" was okay and "The Ultimate Ninja" was way better than I remember it being.  All in all, not a bad batch of episodes.

There are also some IDW TMNT books from last week that I need to catch up on, so I'll get on those.

I also like to think this arc is also what started the, "Shredder has existed since Feudal Japan" aspect that is now so common in TMNT lore, such as what IDW did with Oroku Saki and Hamato Yoshi existing in ancient Japan rather than modern times.

As for Ch'rell, it's just that for a series that was adapting Mirage comics nobody really expected them to make such a drastic change to the Turtles most iconic villain and make him an alien brain. Every other Shredder in the franchise is human (or a resurrected demon who was once human) so this is the most vastly different incarnation of the Shredder ever done.

Likewise with most other series having Krang around, it's redundant to have two alien brain Utroms bent on universe domination. With IDW having introduced Ch'rell a while ago, it'll be interesting to see what IDW does to differentiate their version of Ch'rell from Krang, since they're both rather similar in that series.
